Pomelo Salad - Jambura Makha or Batabi Lebu Makha
Jambura Makha, the Bengali style Pomelo Salad, takes me back to my childhood days at my Aunt’s house. She had a couple huge Pomelo Trees and every afternoon, my cousin would make Jambura Makha as an evening snack. As a kid, I was a very picky eater and I have very few happy food memories. This Jambura Makha somehow lingered around and even after so many years, those afternoons and a bowl of sweet tart Jambura Makha makes me smile. It was only very recently that I learned about this citrus fruit called Pomelo. Although I was exactly sure if it would taste the same, I gave it a go.
What is Pomelo ?
If you never tried Pomelo before, you absolutely must. It is similar to grapefruit, but sweeter and larger. The flesh is either a light shade of green or yellow, and the pulp is either pink or off white. This citrus fruit has a lot of health benefits! It is said that one Pomelo packs several days’ worth of Vitamin C It is a such a great snack and makes a great addition to your winter salad.
