One of the best ways to warm the house around this time of the year is by baking. And I am on a roll here with cookies, cake and bread. After all, it’s the best time of the year, and we are indulging on repeat.
Chocolate Sugar Cookies
Very easy to prepare the dough One egg is added, but you can discard if you don’t eat eggs The dough calls for cocoa powder, and you don’t have to buy any expensive variety. You definitely need to keep some time in hand as the dough needs to rest in the fridge for 2 hours and I like to keep the cut-out dough back in the fridge for 15 minutes to bake.
Shaping these Chocolate Sugar Cookies
You can use any regular cookie cutter too. If you don’t have any cookie cutter, just use a tiny bowl or glass to cut out the cookies. These Chocolate Sugar Cookies are a delight to all the kids. My son loves to shape these with me, cut out the dough and arrange in the cookie sheet. Someday I like to add a simple sugar frosting on top, but with the cute design of the snowflake and mitten, I felt like leaving it blank. The impression came out so neat.

Things to remember when making these cookies:
You need to have room temperature softened butter and not melted butter. When you mix the ingredients, do not over mix or knead the dough. Either use a rubber spatula to mix or paddle attachment if using a stand mixer. When you are rolling the dough, instead of dusting with flour, dust with cocoa powder. And let the dough rest in the fridge for 2 hours. The dough needs to be cold when rolled out. While rolling the dough and cutting, if the dough gets sticky or warm, place it back in the fridge. Bring on the Christmas vibe with these super cute, melting in mouth Chocolate Sugar Cookies. Kids love these, and it will make a great addition to your Christmas cookie box.
